Starting now, KMUAN is also a late-night ranting space. With that being said, I’m trying to understand.
I work at a grocery store now. Part of my job used to be to radio the manager every time a person walks in the store without a mask on. They would then approach the customer and politely ask them to wear a mask and hand them one for free.
This morning I was told it was okay to stop radioing because some people have been hostile towards the managers when they approach them. It’s not everyone. Most people ask me if there are masks available and we do. It’s just a small portion of people take this opportunity to be a jerk.
Masks are technically required in our store, but they just don’t have the energy to get yelled at by customers to enforce it. And it really made me sad to hear that from my supervisor.
I’m just going to say this: At this point in the year, if you don’t have a mask or purposefully go into public spaces without one and refuse to wear one, you’re trash. Point blank, period.
We have about 6.2 million cases in the U.S. as of tonight. It makes absolutely no sense for people to still be walking about without a mask on.
The U.S. arguably had the worse response to Covid-19. We brushed if off thinking the virus would be minor. Then it spread to the States and well, it’s been a shit show ever since.
Most of our deaths could have been preventable if we had locked down early on, issued hazard pay for quarantine and made masks mandatory. And one main way to have prevented it was to wear a mask.
I feel like a tired bird singing the same song. I’m probably preaching to a choir of people who already get it but wear a damn mask. It’s just gotta be normal for you now.
