3 Years with Keeps Me Up At Night

Good evening, nonsleepers.

I just happened to have opened a tab on WordPress.com & saw a notification that it’s been 3 years today since I started this blog!

Honestly, that’s shocking. When I started Keeps Me Up At Night, I was kind of in a low place. I was a recent college graduate who moved back home & just couldn’t get hired despite how often I applied to for jobs. Just wondering what I did wrong. What’s with the bad luck?

Then I thought, since I can’t find an explanation for why this is happening, why not make art out of something that causes you pain? Might as well. I was jobless.

And I gotta say, this has been an awkward, clumsy, yet exhilarating uphill journey.

Eventually I was employed, then not, then employed again. During all of this I would write pieces for this blog and had more fun doing this than being a media writing major in college.

I got a rush researching and compiling notes onto Google Drive just to create a bumbling little blog rant to published at 11:30-midnight EST. And it was so exciting to see who liked my posts, who related to that post-graduate What now? phase, and anyone who viewed it.

I just wanted to say: Thank you so much.

I know it’s not a big deal. People curate written blogs all the time. I’m just sappy because this is my first online blog, and I’m just shocked that some people get what I’m feeling/thinking.

So thank you for 3 years of KMUAN. And here’s to more weird nightly content!

Good night! XOXO
